Apple is in the air

Nothing says "fall is here" better than apples. They can be sweet, slightly tart, and juicy all at the same time, making them perfect for baking. Here are two of my favorite baked goods I chose for this year's October Specials:

The Apple Crumb Cake has three layers. It starts with a moist cake base which is completely covered with tasty chunks of cinnamon-dusted apples and is nicely complemented by a crunchy brown sugar topping.

Yields: one 8" x 8" pan (9 pieces) or one 13" x 9" pan (20 pieces).

If you're going to have a cookie, have a real cookie. My jumbo 4" gourmet Apple Cranberry Cookies are filled with chunks of juicy apples, chewy cranberries and lots of cinnamon flavor. For that extra crunch, lightly toasted walnuts can be added upon request.

Yields: 1 dozen jumbo cookies.
